History

The Center for Students with Special Needs. Previously known as the Center for Supportive Services for the Deaf was established in 1990 by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education as a service provider for students with hearing impairment both under graduates and post graduates. Its mandates includes signing/interpreting for students with hearing impairments during lectures and other University activities. Assisting them to settle down properly for their studies. In the year 2024 the name of the Centre was changed by the University authority to Centre for Students with Special Needs to accommodate numerous functions of the Centre, which include services to other students with special needs e.g visual impairments physically challenged and health related issues. The Centre has been performing these roles credibly well. Over 100 undergraduates and postgraduates have graduated in the various programmes including Medicine, Civil Engineering, Law, Education, Social Sciences etc.
